Making the trade from bottle shampoo to shampoo bars can be pretty daunting however It’s important to decrease plastic consumption. So, here’s how I did it.
Firstly, I tried a few different shampoo bars because there are so many different types for your hair type. It takes some time finding the perfect one for your hair. Do not be discouraged if the first one you try doesn’t work for you, be patient with yourself and try a few more. Many shampoo bars lather really well and leave you hair feeling just as refreshed as normal bottled shampoo.
I’ve had my fair share of trials with different shampoo bars and my first try was the Beauty Kubes shampoo bar (the pink box) and let me say that I am not disappointed. The little powder cubes are crumbled in your hand ,one or two at a time depending on your hair length, you then add a few drops of water to the crumbled powder and it creates a paste-like solution. I then lathered the solution throughout my hair was washed up as normal and it worked marvelously – pleasantly surprised. I hail this type of shampoo bar as one of the best and there’s many variations to choose from.
At TCC we stock beauty kubes for Normal and dry hair, sensitive hair and even oily hair. It doesn’t end there though, beauty kubes have conditioner bars and also a range for men and for body washing.
Here’s why you should make the ultimate switch
Shampoo bars often have luscious smells, lather well and they can control how much product to use. They’re also population for the fact that they keep your hair cleaner for longer.
It’s also important to note that washing you hair less often is highly beneficial as you are not stripping you hair and scalp of its natural and healthy oils.
Shampoo bars are made in convenient sizes that don’t take allot of space and are ideal for travel.
Although shampoo bars are smaller than your average bottle shampoo they are known to last a little longer than the ordinary shampoo. They’re eco-friendly with no micro plastics or plastic packaging.
Beauty Kube shampoos for normal to dry hair contains gentle surfactants that’s gently cleanse your hair and scalp. It’s infused with rose extract, coconut milk and pro vitamin B5, vitamin e, olive oil and a blend of organic palmarosa, orange and grapefruit essential oils.
Beauty Kube shampoo for Sensitive hair contains a PH balanced and natural formula with a blend of coconut milk, passionflower oil and omega 3,6 and 9.
Our range of Clean and Green shampoos also do a wonderful job! These were the second shampoo bars I tried before testing many others. It holds a high standard for me just like the Beauty Kubes.
They’re gentle on hair and scalp and they create a generous lather.
Conditioner bars are a bit tricky, you made need to try different types just to find the perfect one for you. It’s hard to trap moisture that a conditioner provides in a bar however Natural spa have done it quite well.
Their conditioner bars are a favorite here at The Cleaning Cabinet.
They contain oat milk, seed butter, seed oils, Shea butter and many other moisturizing ingredients that leave your hair soft. They’re vegan , SLS free and free from any preservatives. They also come in a variety of different scents.
Switching to a conditioner bar just like a shampoo bar is one of the most eco-effective switches you can make in your household.
If that’s not for you then I highly recommend trying a conditioner that you can refill for example the MINIML grapefruit and Aloe Vera conditioner in a glass bottle. Using refills as such will still contribute to the reduction of waste in your household.
